Was down that way yesterday for work and a co-worker suggested we give this place a try, and I was absolutely blown away at how good it was.

I opened with splitting an order of the crawfish cornbread which was a nice slice of cornbread covered with crawfish etoufee.

I then had a cup of the duck and andouille gumbo. I'm not a huge fan of fowl gumbo, much preferring seafood, but this absolutely blew me away. It was incredible, might have been the best gumbo I've had at a restaurant.

For my main meal I had the crawfish pie, which was crawfish etoufee sandwiched between two pieces of phyllo dough. It had a nice crunch when eaten together. Great serving size, though I definitely had to take some home.

Overall a great experience.

The original one is, they opened the New Iberia location sometime last year(?). We ate there shortly after it opened. While it was very good, it was not as good as the one in Breaux Bridge. Admittedly, they were still working out some kinks and had not incorporated all of their dishes to the menu at the NI location. Haven't had a chance to go back...

I didn't realize there were two locations. I ate in Breaux Bridge the week before Easter and had the crawfish pie. It was delicious. I don't recall seeing the crawfish cornbread, but that looks like a nice option from the pie. Glad you enjoyed the meal.

One of my favorite brunch spots. I love their boudin "pig ears" and their au gratin is on point. I believe Grapevine in Donaldsonville has several of the same items -- I think the husband/wife split up and one went to Donaldsonville and the other stayed in Breaux Bridge. Or something like that.

No. It's a much smaller venue.

To the OP, we had a similarly good experience there about 6 months ago for a Sunday lunch. This place is legit.

Went to the BB location a couple of weeks ago. That place is dripping in history and culture. The atmosphere and food is outstanding!

Had the eggplant first...which almost filled me up they were so big...and then the crawfish pie. Went to go take some pics at Lake Martin and stopped back by and had the syrup cake and coffee.

Before I left I was asking a waiter what the story was about the hand crank device you see when you enter the restaurant. A gentleman at a nearby table overheard me and got up and started telling me about this device. He told me his father built caskets upstairs and would use this device to lower them downstairs. I took a pic of the restaurant and included the name of the old building on it. Driving around town later that evening I saw the local funeral home...and it was the same name that was on the building...Pellerin.

It was a really cool experience and I'm looking forward going back on a Sat morning for breakfast, some good music and dancing.

If you have never been...you gotta geaux!
