Thanks for all of the recs in the Pinot thread I started a while back. Now, how about some good cabs < $20?

Politiceaux informed me in a thread the other day that Cuban Liquor in BR has Smith & Hook cab for $15. I have only bought it in Houston, but it's really solid for the price. Happy to know Baton Rouge has it too, because I haven't seen it anywhere in Nola.

I see it in most grocery stores I go to. Martin's has it on their website that it is in all their stores.

As is their shite-show winery. Pool, movie room, cabins.

Honestly, the Robert Mondavi Private selection cab is pretty good. You can get it for $12 sometimes in the grocery store.

I also second Bogle as an under $20.

Chateau St. Michelle and Louis Martini Sonoma are excellent value priced cabs...

Because this wine is so cheap, I may get flamed for mentioning it, but when I'm making a steak at home for myself, this $12 bottle works nicely.

A favorite with grilled meats, our Cabernet Sauvignon has intense flavors of black currant, dark spices, milk chocolate and vanilla.

Also for cost effectiveness, Barefoot puts out some drinkable wines.

have you tried the Claret?

it is pretty decent.. and under $20.

they are marked up considerably @ restaurants...which is not justifiable.
