So I took out some vacuum sealed frozen burgers and sausage last night and put them in the sink last night. Woke up this morning and realized I forgot to put them in the fridge. So they’ve been thawing for 10-12 hours. Toss or grill em?

Grill if precooked
Toss if raw
Toss if raw

Open the packs and smell 'em. That will tell you what to do. I've forgotten stuff out that long before and been fine. But there's people on here who will tell you to throw it if the meat rose above 40 degrees so there's that.

I would toss them in the fridge and cook them later today. The only meats I worry about going bad are chicken and pork. Bought a pork roast one time and it was still a couple days away from the sell by date. Opened the package and the smell was horrible.

Ask yourself is it worth risking food poisoning for probably less than $20 worth of meat? Then go from there.

What usually happens when you experience this is some goober in the store put it in their basket and somewhere along the line decided they really didn't want it and just stuck it on a shelf instead of back in the cooler like they should have.
It sits out and gets warm before being discovered and the store employee puts it back in the cooler instead of tossing it.

Been there, friend.

Yeah the smell was horrible. Lit some candles, sprayed some cleaner and wiped everything down, turned on the hood vent, and opened the kitchen door. I’m honestly surprised at how well the plastic wrap holds smells in.

can I have your brew equipment after you eat this?

quote:Try coming home from a couple months working away with power outage/restart blowing the controller board on your home freezer with pork roast, burgers, fish, venison, inside. Smell was apparent before I could even unlock the front door. Imagine once I opened the freezer door! The colors were kinda pretty though, lime and pink with some orange and black in areas.

Anyone who went through Katrina and took on floodwaters has stories like that. My freezer in the downstairs man cave was on its back when I could get back to my house about 2 months later. The smell was unbelievably putrid and I knew I had to stand the freezer up to get it on the hand cart to drag it out.
As it was being uprighted, the door cracked open a bit and the liquid that spewed out that door made everyone down there gag and run for the doors. I too had fish, pork, chicken venison and tons of already prepared food in there.
