First off, I'm not much of a bourbon drinker and don't know much about it as I'm a scotch guy myself. A buddy brought over a bottle of bulleit and I thought it tasted like rotgut. Anyone else feel that bulleit is a bit overrated and overpriced? And do you guys have any bourbon recommendations in that price range? It's too effing hot right now to drink my scotch and I need to find a good bourbon

I got the ninja version and I think it works much better. Not sure how they compare on price

I like it, but the Bulleit Rye is better. It use to be a great deal but is now after it got popular it’s a little overpriced.

Couldn’t imagine how bourbon would be any better than scotch in this weather

Bulleit is good stuff but if you didn’t like it try Buffalo Trace. It’s in the same price range (if not cheaper). It’s my go to when pouring for myself at home.

Bulleit Rye is awesome. You can sometimes still find it for under $20.

Bulleit is solid and can be had for less than 25$/fifth. To me, it and buffalo trace are bang for buck go to's. It's high rye, you may like a wheated bourbon. I love basil Hayden but it's high rye too so I wouldn't take that rec.

Used to be $17-19 a fifth. That was a great price. Past couple of years it's jumped way up and isn't worth buying anymore.

It’s decent, but not worth the price point. Buffalo Trace is my go to.

BT handles at $42 are the bulk go-to for me, after EC12 went the way of the do-do bird....

The Eagle Rare Martin’s handle is also a good value but not always available.

Used to drink Bulleit, don’t anymore. Other choices are better.

I like the taste, but it is definitely rough on the throat compared to Buffalo Trace.

If you like Scotch and want to transition to bourbon, Basil Hayden ftw

I like the Rye. It should be sub $25/ fifth like it used to be though. I'm not paying $35 for it

I'm still amazed at the vast differences in prices on the same bottle at different stores. Bulleit is $30 for a fifth at the state store, but $45 at the local place. Four Roses small batch 90 proof is $32 at the state store, but $25 at the local place. The largest difference is Makers. Not the 46 or Cask strength, but plain old Makers, is $32 at the state store, and over $50 at the local place. I will only buy Old Forester or Four Roses at the local place, although I like to support them because they are closest to my neighborhood. Alabama is so messed up with the ABC board though.

No and No.

I prefer it to Knob Creek and even when not on discount is $10 cheaper for a 1.75l bottle.

I'm a Buffalo Trace guy as well. I get it for $25. Buffalo Trace is responsible for Pappy Van Winkel, the most sought after and acclaimed bourbon out there.
