I’ll have to check it out! I love small pours and sampling lots of different styles.

What is the overall concept of this?
Chicago has a couple self-service taprooms, including Tapster in Lincoln Park and Wicker Park. After you walk in, there is an employee that holds your credit card and gives you a card that has your name digitized onto it. Go grab a glass and pay by the ounce for the beer of your choice on the menu. Tapster has a number of taps with cocktails and wine, too.
Think it's fine, and you don't have to worry about waiting on a bartender at a crowded bar, but I don't find Tapster's selection to be anything more than above-average (most of the time).

Pretty comparable to most bars. I was charged $21.00, and I had 3 beers. They also have wine, and cocktails on tap. Just ask for ice if you’re getting a cocktail.

Oh it opened? I saw a group of people in there on Saturday but I checked their IG and it still says 4-26 as the opening date.
I hope it does well because it’s so close to home for me. They should probably get someone actually active on their social media though and try to get word out in 225 or something. It’s a spot that will be easily overlooked if they don’t make themselves known.

I'm surprised our draconian ATC would allow this
The middlemen distribution companies aren’t being cut out in this process.

There was a place in River Ranch in Lafayette like this several years ago, but for wine. The wife enjoyed going and being able to try different things. You basically prepay on a card and pour your own stuff till it runs out of money.

This one you leave your credit card at the front, and they give you a wristband to put on a glass that has a RFID reader. Just tap to whatever beer you want and it’s charged to your card per ounce.

Sort of like Hogs for the Cause?

I thought one of the local Walk-On's had self-service taps. I know the Walk-On's by the Superdome has self service.

The one on Juban has several tables in the bar area with self-service taps.

Went last night.
Cool concept with some good beer and food. However, the novelty wears off pretty quickly.
And the problem comes in that the building itself is not conducive to sitting down and drinking. It just has a very bland and sterile feel to it.
Glad I went, but not sure if I'll be going back again.

Yeah they definitely need to add some things to it. An outdoor patio would be nice, and maybe some live music some nights. I kind of had the same feeling when I went. I’m hoping they plan on expanding on it in the near future.
The place seemed to die down around 10pm on a Saturday night, which if you’re in the bar business is not very good.

Friend of mine went yesterday and said the number of unique beers is really low. Lots of standard stuff. Maybe 5-10 beers to try at most

I can not fathom wanting to live by LSU after the age of 23.
Burbank and Lee is just awful.

I lived at Hundred Oaks and Arlington behind Zeeland St Market throughout college and none of my transplant college friends could fathom why I’d live “so far” from campus. I imagine they’d have a different response now.
That said, the college kids don’t go to overpass area much still, so I guess maybe it’s the same. I live pretty close to this tap room, in University Acres/College Hills.. which made me glad for this place.. but it looks pretty stale to me as well. It’s close but honestly not THAT much closer than Bulldog, or even Twist if I go Highland/Kennilworth.

O or T has never been my thing, but Smugglers Cove is soft opening right now and that’s right down the street

I saw the pics. Looks awesome. I used to work for Tom so I’ll be there soon I’m sure.
Twist is my jam though. Love the employees. I typically only ever go when I’m solo though.

Interested to see if the Southdowns/Garden District folks will take to it. I’m planning on checking it out Monday
