While not Baton Rouge, Joe's Dreyfus. Hosted Oprah and one or two of the three tenors if memory served right.

It brings back memories reading some of the names on here.
I miss Giamanco’s. Good Italian food and a great oyster bar.
The Village. More good Italian food and a great date place.
Cotton Club. Hangout bar down the street from the law school.
Bob and Jakes. The thing I remember about that place is that that is where they used to broadcast the post game show from after the football game in the late 1960s and early 70s.
Isn’t Phil’s Oyster Bar still around?

There was a Chinese restaurant on Nicholson north of LSU close to where Poncho's was. No tables inside, you just drove up and gave your order.

There was a dish at Pasta Garden (I-12 & SF) that I loved. I worked right around the corner. It was a mildly spicy red sauce (not heavy on the sauce), bellpeppers & shrimp. I got it over angel hair pasta. That coupled with the pasta salad, that came out first, was delicious.
Carlos' (father of the Mestizo's sons). Airline & Florida Blvd., by the bowling alley. Closed for a while, reopened, then I think closed again. I think the last time I went, a 10 year-old family member was my waiter.

Pasta Garden was the best. We did not eat out much, but Pasta Garden, Ground Patti and R and K were the spots we did.
The folks who owned Danvers lived five or six house up the street from us. Good folks and good food.

The place before Don's was Two Jacks! Great unusual menu options in one restaurant at the time. You could get a really good pizza there as well as some of the best egg rolls, for example.
