Louie's
Franks
Frost top

Anthony's Italian Deli may qualify as a dive
Fluer de crap would definitly qualify as a dive.
Poor Boy Lloyd's ??
Pastime should also be on the list

BTW Im really sorry many of you have never ventured out and noticed that there are a shite load of non chains in BR to eat at

2 places come to mind, both IMO would fit the bill perfectly.

Anthony's deli

and

DEMPSEYS!!!!! Packed, good food, ALL from scratch, great vibe.

I would put Dempseys but its hard to call it a dive and I would definitly not call it a diner or dive in.

they show isn't restrictive at all with the definitions. They def have places that are neither dives, diners, or drive-in's on a regular basis.

Nah, I think Chimes at least tries to cook some of their own stuff and has some pretty good special. Alot better than Walk-Ons unless something has changed in the last few years.

Walk-Ons is about as dumbed down as it gets as far as food goes.

Just saying that I don't really find that big of a difference in the two, and I used to work down the street from both and ate at both regularly for lunch all the time. It's OK food, but it's not as if either of them are setting the world on fire with anything.

Yeah, Anthony's has some good sandwiches for sure, but not sure you could actually fit a television cammera much less a crew in there to film.

BTW... That's why I like the place to be honest with you. I'm a big fan of Anthony's.

Seems pretty much anything below something like a white tablecloth type establishment fits their criteria.

It's not real hard to get the common thread of what they're looking for, though.

the Chimes dominates Walk On's in most every aspect - atmosphere, food, beer, location ... etc. Maybe not talent, but i dont live in BR anymore so not sure.

BR could never host DD and D ... it is too close to NOLA that has hundreds of candidates. We know there are decent options around the area with some character, but nationally not much appeal.

The Bayou back in the day was a true BR dive bar with history and character, but restaurants? Not so much.

i really don't think that is overly important in this show. It's little snippets of each place, and the focus is as much on Guy Fiere and "fun" production styles as it is on the places he covers. He has hit tons of places more bland and boring in food, location, clientele, and personality than some of the places in BR.

eta: but, the proximity to NOLA is a legit reason. Most douchey hipster AD's feel that they will melt if they have to leave the the "hidden" hangouts on Frenchman to venture anywhere else in La.

Back in the day, BR had some fine dives etc. Phil's Oyster Bar, Hopper's drive ins, Rouse's BBQ, The Brunswick, Ruby's (under the Perkins Road Overpass, Bernard's Chicken Loaf,Alessi's Drive in, The Caterie. Unfortunately people retired, died and the public bought into Mcdonalds and Burger King etc.

I remember the crowds at Joe D's and Bernards waiting on a sandich to at lunchtime Well worth the wait.

One of the problems in Baton Rouge (at least from the perspective of this show, maybe not for the owners of the establishments) - so many of the "dives" aren't content to remain dives.
