Paul is actually giving good advice here for a change. Stockyard Cafe is #2 in my book.

Boil & Roux on coursey has some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten in a restaurant.

I won't say anything good about anything else I've eaten there. But that fried chicken is legit.

I miss Joe D's fried chicken po boys. White butcher paper meant white meat, brown butcher paper meant dark meat. Man those were good.

The best I've had in the Greater Baton Rouge area is Popingo's in St. Gabriel and Pic-A-Pac in Port Allen.

I've only had the poboys but the Save More Mart on Nicholson between LSU and Downtown is supposed to have very good fried chicken.

As a fried chicken connoisseur, my vote is for Delpit's Chicken Shack. Get some shack balls and a pork chop sandwich while you're there, and some 7-Up cake for dessert.

Dominique's Stockyard Cafe would be #2.
