He was in town filming a Cajun-themed episode for Parts Unknown and had dined on mac and cheese, chicken and biscuits with gravy, and a fountain Dr. Pepper at this beacon of hope for three days in a row.

After eating Chinese food for the ten days before that, “I will weep with gratitude at macaroni and cheese,” he told the magazine.

He also went to Suire's and Bread & Circus. Not sure what other restaurants he went to while out here.

He came back, but he already blew his load on the Cajun country episode of "No Reservations". That one just was well put together and featured Bourdain whacking a pig and him going on camera saying that a crawfish bisque that came from someone's kitchen was the single best thing he'd eaten since elBulli.

How do you top an episode like that?

Wow. Not going to lie, I've never had the mac n cheese. I usually go green beans, red beans or fries.

God bless Popeyes

I’ll never forget the first time I went there. Kind of like having your first child.

I like Popeye's once in a while, but if I had to eat there 3 days in a row, I'd be moved to tears also. Some other things would probably be moving too.

A point of clarification, he did not say the restaurant or the food there moved him to tears, he said:

quote:

After eating Chinese food for the ten days before that, “I will weep with gratitude at macaroni and cheese,” he told the magazine.

He said that the idea of being able to eat mac and cheese after eating chinese for 10 days would move him to tears.

He apparently has a thing for the Mac and cheese at Popeyes tho...

Guilty pleasure when traveling?
Every restaurant in the world, every hotel has spaghetti bolognese on the menu and I have a perverse desire to see how they make it. It’s become a joke with my crew. We try to always eat what’s local always — especially in a country with delicious food — but in our down time, we all succumb now and again to the spaghetti bolognese, if only for the comedy value. But my real guilty pleasure — my really disgusting, shameful pleasure — is the mac and cheese at Popeye’s fried chicken. Late at night, I’ve been known to sneak in there with a hoodie on — and I always get nailed. People are like, “Dude, I’m going to put this on Instagram.”

Never had mac and cheese there. We always get red beans, mashed potatoes and coleslaw.
