I would think a great boudin/specialty meat store would kill it in New Orleans. Does anyone know of failed attempts?

don't know of any failed attempts. Imagine a Best Stop, Don's, or T-Boy's (Mamou) in New Orleans.

would have to hire or abduct indefinitely a boudin maker from one of the West of Atchafalaya outlets, with recipe ratio in hand,,,, IMO

NOLA needs a traditional cajun meat market. Not another nose in the sky meat market.

A friend of mine said that a friend of his was in talks with Chris' Specialty Meats to open a location in Nola.

Gets his boudin from Ronnies.. So what happens there? Does he get it sent to NOLA?

Millerville in BR. Next to Texaco. Good stuff with horrible hours. ETA.. Looks like they improved their hours. Used to never be able to get there to pick something up after work.

Being from Mamou and living in Lafayette, I'm just spoiled on good boudin.

Rare Cuts on Magazine. I think they sell Creole Country

Creole Country makes excellent sausage. Their alligator sausage, chaurice, and green onion crawfish sausage are my 3 favorite sausages of any type, anywhere!

But their boudin is just not that good. It's eatable, but it doesn't come close to satisfying my boudin craving needs. I order pounds of the stuff from Best Stop and have it shipped in.

It would take a team of skilled butchers to pull it off. And it's amazing that it hasn't happened yet.
To have an authentic butcher shop in New Orleans that makes boudin, sausage, cracklin, and hog head cheese on a regular basis would be a first.

No, it would be a 1st if it was viewed as good as the places west of the Atchafalaya.

Gourmet Butcher block doesn't compare to the places in the Lafayette area. Some of their stuff is ok. I wish an authenic place would open up here.

Has anyone had the boudin at whole foods in BR? I imagine it's not very good, but just curious.

If I hardly ever take the Horace Wilkerson Bridge to Bergeron's from LSU, I doubt I'll be willing to take the causeway just for boudin. However, if I'm already out that way, I'll be sure to check it out.

Does Poche's still sell their stuff out of Boutin's on Bluebonnet?

Not a huge fan of Poche's, but it is "West of the Atchafalaya" boudin you can find in BR.

Im not a fan of Poche's boudin at all. Their cracklin and boudin at the Boutin's location is just not good. The stuffed pork chops on the lunch line though
