Are there any places in the city to get good boudin? I know there's far more creoles than cajuns there, but are there any good boudin joints in the crescent city?

Cochon Butcher has it. I didn't think it was great, though its been over a year since I tried it.

This is probably the only place I can think of that has actual non-supermarket type boudin, unfortunately.

ETA: High Hat has decent boudin too, but does a lot of other stuff that's really worth going for.

I know cleaver & company had some good boudin during Mardi Gras. Not sure if its a regular thing. Kid Creole gas station on airline is one of the only place I can think of that sells hot boudin ready to eat. Not the best but it works in a pinch.

Although it's technically not in NOLA, Emmett's usually has a bunch of different types of boudin. I would call first to make sure it's in stock.

Crescent Pie and Sausage hasnt been mentioned yet.

Cochon Butcher is not good boudin imo.

I've yet to find boudin anywhere near New Orleans that I think is even remotely close to what you can get in the Lafayette area.

I thought Crescent Pie & Sausage and Cochon Butcher's were both not very good.

I think Crescent Pie is better that Cochon Butcher but if comparing to Lafayette area its bad. There is a reason my family that lives in the nola area brings my parents andouille when they go home and my parents bring boudin when they visit them.

Im thankful that BR at least has Ronnies.

Does the boudin from any of those places compare to Ronnies?

Crescent Pie and Sausage and Cochon do not. Neither are good, IMO.

I'm holding out hope that Toups has rectified the situation (I'm sure if you find my original thread from a year ago I say exactly this) but honestly if I end up back in NOLA soon, I'll just start getting that shite shipped in from Scott.

I was raised on Leblanc's boudin from SSS. I'm hoping that I can at least get that kind of quality when I'm working/living down in New Orleans this summer.

Good boudin is not made nor found east of the Atchafalaya Basin.

I would think a great boudin/specialty meat store would kill it in New Orleans. Does anyone know of failed attempts?

Agreed. Gourmet Butcher Block does great business and it is on the westbank.
