Boiling Crawfish on Wood Deck

Quick question. I know placing a crawfish burner on a wood deck is not an ideal setup, but was wondering if anybody would have a recommendation on how I can do that without ruining/burning deck boards? Any recommendations for heat-resistant mats that can be placed under burner?? Thank you!

Get 6-8 cinder blocks and put them on top of the deck.
Put the pot on the blocks.
Boil your crawfish, baw.

I would think a sheet of concrete backer board would protect the wood

Backer board or plywood and your ok

Good option, plus it doesn't raise the pot up hardly at all as opposed to cinder blocks. That would be my choice of protection.

A piece of sheet metal.

Sheet rock if you are concerned. I'm not concerned.

Piece of sheet metal or flashing on a piece of plywood.

I wouldn't use sheet metal, especially if the deck has some type coating for protection like paint or some other finish.
The radiated heat from the burner would likely cause the paint to peel or possibly scorch the deck as it transfers through it

Is boiling crawfish in the wintertime kinda odd or is it just me?

My Cousins boil crabs and crawfish all the time on there pier with no issue whatsoever.

pull your car onto the deck, open the trunk, put the burner and pot setup in the trunk. YOu should have no trouble with the direct flame affecting the wood of the deck.

I put down 4 old 18x18 floor tiles and put my burner on them. Works good for me.

We typically start getting crawfish around early December, not odd at all.
