Boiled cauliflower recipe

I’ve just started cooking on my own. One of the foods I’ve gotten proficient in cooking is cauliflower. It’s good enough to share.
Ingredients:
Head of cauliflower
Salt
Pepper
Butter
Directions:
1. Chop head of fresh cauliflower and remove the green stuff. 4 lb head can be found at Sams for 2.22. At Walmart most heads are 2.5-3.5 lbs. Walmart is $2 per head so be sure you individually weigh each head so you can get the biggest. Often the biggest head will have a little mold on it so you’ll have to calculate the amount you’ll have to remove. With experience you will maximize your cauliflower selections. Unfortunately at Sams they have no scales, so you will have to estimate with your own hand or sneak a small scale in with you.
2. Boil some water in a large pot.
3. Once cauliflower is chopped into 3 by 1 inch sections add to water. Some people like their water salted.
4. Cooked covered for about 10-15 minutes. When you can pierce with a fork remove.
5. Drain water.
6. To reduce dirty dishes melt 4 tbsps of butter on the cauliflower in the same pot.
7. Add some salt. Your taste will determine the amount.
8. Add some pepper. Your taste will determine the amount.
9. Serve on a plate. If you or your guests are messy eaters you can also serve in a bowl. I like serving at about 160 degrees.
10. Can sprinkle parsley on top if you like green.
Have other eaters do your dishes if possible.

Selection of the head of cauliflower is nearly as important as the cooking. You can spend the same amount of money on heads that have a 50% weight difference. I chuckle when I see home chefs grab and go without weighing each individually. That extra care you’re willing to take will be the difference between making 6 serving and 9 servings. Like I said, don’t be entirely focused on weight because the larger ones will occasionally have some mold. That will need to be removed.

Take the extra step and mash it up with some garlic and cheese.

I tried adding ricotta cheese, but it turned out a little too watery for my preferences

Whole Foods makes an excellent smoked cauliflower you should try if they sold it.

That’s false. Whole Foods used to do an excellent, absolutely stunning smoked burger. It was often given as a free sample so you would buy the beef. Best burger in NOLA. They stopped serving it after my top ten burgers of N.O. went mainstream and hoards of readers rushed to sample it. WF couldn’t keep up with the demand, so decided to discontinue those samples. One of the biggest losses to the NO dining scene in the last decade.

Steaming is better than boiling. You keep more of the nutritional value.

Holy shite, son. Put the crack pipe up for the night.

That smoked burger was horrible. Always over cooked.

Samples can’t be burgers man. The best they could possibly be is a slider. Probably more like some gay little mini sliders. Your whole premise is bunk.

And yet nearly a decade since making that list the WF burger is still the talk of the Food Board! We cannot even discuss great cauliflower recipes without the WF burger being brought up.
Must be pretty great.

Take that boiled cauliflower and put a bechamel or mornay over it and then broil it
