So, I was driving to the hunting camp Friday and I stopped in Franklinton to get something for the drive. I eat fast food maybe once every other month, and I hadn't eaten at a burger king in at least 5 years.

I ended up getting the rodeo king burger. It's 2 1/4 lb patties, bacon, cheese, onion rings, and BBQ sauce. I have to admit...it was pretty damn good. It was much better than anything I've had from McDonald's or Wendy's anytime in the past year or so. My only gripe was the mayo on it (not a fan). Even the fries were hot and fresh.

I was pleasantly surprised.

They've actually been serving the Rodeo burgers for years. And I agree that they are surprisingly good.

They were an off-menu item that you had to know to ask for however.

I’m bracing myself for the downvotes.

I would take a Whopper or Rodeo King Burger over In-n-Out any day of the week.

BK Rodeo King Burger

This is currently the best fast food burger in America (among the nationwide chains).

Rodeo burger has been on their $1 menu for years. Is this just a larger version?

100% agree. Burger King and Sonic have the best burgers out of the national fast food brands. Whataburger and in n out are regional for the most part.

Does BK still microwave all of their burgers?

I ask, because the last time I ate one (and a couple of times before that - it's been years), there is no way a burger and bun could be that hot, even off the grill.

Last time I went to one they did.

That was also the last time I ate BK...about 5 years ago.

Burger King has some good burgers when done correctly. The problem is most of the locations are disgusting shitholes and they employee the worst of the worst in the fast food biness. I can't bring myself to eat at any of the locations around here. Damn shame too because I like the flame grilledness of their burgers..

I agree. The Hispanic workers really seem to like their jobs and don't have the attitude we get here in S. Louisiana. I've been to several HEB stores and always remark about the staff. From the stock guys to check out, everyone was well groomed, polite, and helpful. If you have never been to one, give HEB a try, very interesting store.

BK buns and patties are passed through the toaster and broiler then put together in a steamer box until ordered. They are then dressed for order. Worked there for a few weeks while I was in high school.

Subtle brag...I have the best f***ing Popeyes ever in the Houston burbs. Orders always correct, always hot, never long waits, and NEVER "please pull through".

ETA: But the Burger King, right next door, still sucks!
