I'm taking my so out for dinner in Lafayette next weekend and I would like to get some suggestions/reviews on where we should go.

Last night we talked about Ruth Chris' and Ruffino's.

TIA

Social or Pamplona are both better and sexier than those two

I wouldn't count on Ruffino's.. They may not be dry yet.

Charlie G's is really nice, good service, would be my first choice.

I like Dark Roux as well.

Aug 15 update: We're very fortunate! Due to some great planning and our drains working properly we were spared any major damage. We're operating our regular hours starting today. We hope everyone is safe. Join us for a glass of wine, a warm meal and a chance to relax.

They're dry. I vote Marcello's though.

They didn't even get wet inside and have been open for standard operations since yesterday.

I will throw in Pour to this conversation. The wife and I went there Monday night and it was really good. I would say this in no particular order:

Charley G's
Ruffino's
Cafe Vermillionville
Ruth Chris
Pour
Marcello's
Social
Saint Street Inn
Rockin Sake
Mister Lesters (if you want to drive)

That's great.. I saw pictures of Ruffino's and it looked ominous.

Marcello is best restaurant in town right now IMO. Charley G's is a close second, new drum and pork dishes are great.

100% agree. It's a typical Lafayette establishment with crappy food, yet everyone needs to go to be seen.

Agreed. And no Café Vermilionville? Both good spots for a birthday dinner.

If you are a Lafayette native La Fonda is traditional , if not, start a tradition with any of the above, all good suggestions

Is it a birthday dinner, or a drunken margarita bash?

I'll throw in another vote for Marcello's as the best restaurant in Lafayette, and the atmosphere is also probably perfect for what you're wanting.

Cafe Vermillionville would be my 2nd choice.

If you're wanting a more "lively" atmosphere, then Ruffino's has a solid combination of that with good food.

Also, Riverside Inn in Broussard is a nice, tucked away "hidden" gem.
