Mac Grill was open a while and made some money. I worked there circa 2002 and place would be packed on weekends and steady during the week. I know it was open still after Katrina. It was run pretty well and the kitchen was clean.

It's mind boggling to me that On the border is still there. Anyone still go there?

It's a Mexican place near a bunch of offices, hotels and a movie theater. That's why it's still open -- business travelers and office types want margaritas. The last time I was there was 6-7 years ago when I had drinks before a movie.

Oh the back of the house was absolutely disgusting. The fire that forced him to close up was caused by him not cleaning the hood. Guy was a grade a douche.and yeah his kids are all in private school and all do expensive arse extracurriculars. Bounced checks? Yep. His kids always running around the dining room? Yep. And he treated his main cook Logan like absolute shite. Like paid him "salary" which ended up being less than $6 an hr.
Feel super bad for his daughter. She was always a good kid. The 2 sons are fricking douche canoes.
But overall, frick Jonathan. He's a huge pos.

Blimpies came and went in a flash.
Moe's Grill couldn't make it and I'll never understand why considering they beat Izzo's to this market and Izzo's is raking it in.
I always loved Godfather's pizza and figured when they moved to Coursey they'd kill it, but I guess not.
That sports bar and grill on the corner of George ONeal and O'Neal was always good. It died quickly though.

Entries like Black Eyed Pea, Grady's and Smokey Bones are a bit off. They shut down everywhere, not just BR.
Dreamland is also a big flop in Atlanta. Don't know about other locations.

Rasputin had a kickass New Year's Eve party one year. Great music and crowd. One or two other times I went, they still had nice looking crowds. The blood red velvet interior and gold chandelier was more like a bar in Greinwich Village, than a place in Baton Rouge. They had a dress code and didn't allow entry with shorts.. Not surprising that it failed.

Mama Della's had great pizza
Why that old dude did not utilize a "pizza by the slice" strategy out of that drive thru window is a head scratcher....BR has nothing like that except for Downtown Schitz and Giggles.
He would still be in bidness in my opinion.

Because every time they yell out "welcome to Moe's" they are spitting all over your food.
That's why.

what was it before dreamland?
"The Grill"
And it sucked. Or at least it did the one time I went. I never made it in to Dreamland before it closed, but it sounds like I didn't miss much.

Didn't WAFB's Paul Gates own the Blimpie's location on O'Neal Lane at one time or another?

His wife owned it.
Paul was a great cook, himself. Just an all around great guy. Hope his family is doing well.

Times Grill....they actually started off pretty solid, probably one of the first "burger" places around here right before that fad started
what was the name of the Chinese place that was there originally? They actually had legit sit down Chinese food before all of picture menu places did them in.
I think the Times was in the old Bamboo Gardens location.
