not to derail the topic but my FIL is in a battle with BBQ guys - they upsold him some stupid arse warranty and his weber pellet grill is not functioning properly.
also I love my BGE just can be pain in the arse to light sometimes

They did. The original owner sold to some company in Missouri, I think. Their customer support has taken a dive since then.

I bought a blaze fridge from them and that warranty. The fridge crapped out about 2 weeks before it expired. They tried to find a repair person in the area but when they couldn’t they cut me a check for the full purchase price no questions. I turned around and a bought another one from them. Not sure what’s going on with ya FIL but I hope it goes well for him.
Yep that was probably it then my rep said they moved the kiln there.

Love my XL BGE that I’ve had for about 10 years now. Best advice I got was to get the next larger size than you think you’ll need, because you’re gonna want to use it, a lot!

I do but I haven't ordered in a lil bit I can get updated list. The last time I got KJ it took a long long time to come in, master built wasn't as bad as KJ. Have my email?

My table is just about shot. What are you guys using? I may just buy a new one rather than sanding and sealing my existing table.

Have one. But I haven't fired it up since last fall. I wish I used it more.
Just the gas grill is so much easier and I got over wanting to smoke.
If you bar b que a lot. Go for it. If you mostly grill burgers and chicken it's an overkill.

That’s why I have been using my gravity smoker so much. It’s not hard to get the ceramics going but you have to adjust vents and watch temps until it’s set. My 1050 I light it and set the temp and walk away and still get the flavor of wood,charcoal. Does 150-700deg. But it’s not efficient and it’s not going to last as long.

Asked this same question years ago… Went with the BGE XL on a tax free day. One of the best decisions I have made.

I have no idea on the other brands in this regard, but BGE has been top notch for me with service. Local ACE hardware carries them. I wanted to build a table, but didn't have it ready when I made the purchase. They lent me a nest/stand to use while I built the table, then came over to the house to put it into the table. They are super easy to deal with for warranty. I had a cracked firebox. Very good chance it happened during a move several months earlier. Took a picture and the ACE hardware let me walk out the door with a new one and they took care of everything with BGE no questions asked. This may be more of a brag on my local ACE's customer service, but BGE helps to make it easy for them.

I have a large BGE and use it often. Definitely worth it. They do a great job of standing behind their products. The accessories are a little high if you're buying Egg brand stuff. The Conveggtor is an absolute must, and the Kick Ash basket makes life easier.
If starting over, I'd also check out Kamado Joe and Primo. BGE is kind of the Yeti of the Kamado grill landscape, can't go wrong with one, but there are other good alternatives now.

As far as the question of cost, if you are any type of above-your-average griller enthusiast/aficionado, then yes. They are all worth the cost.

You are making an assumption on standard company service and availability based on an extremely difficult time to source goods.

I have a old cyberQ with the fan and probes that I got when I got the Primos almost 10 years ago. It works great but I have to set it up every time I wanted to use the grill so I only used it when I did long low cooks. I am pretty lazy and the 1050 has that stuff built in and is weather proof...so thats why I just use it now
