I saw the thread about steakhouses and want to take a weekend trip over to Dallas. Wondering where to eat before we go to the steakhouse.

If I was in Dallas for the weekend I would spend one day in Bishop Arts. There are about a dozen restaurants in that area that are just really good.

Chimichurri has great empanadas and Argentinian food
The Salty Donut has obvi good donuts
Lockhart has good BBQ
Boulevardier has great burgers and french food
Stock and Barrel is a really cool dinner spot
Oddfellows has good brunch
Eno's is good pizza
If you are there on a weekend you need to go to Reveler's Hall at 2pm. Live Jazz and one of the most fun bars in the city IMO

Good little shops and fun bars as well

Edit: none of them are the "best" in the city, but it's a really fun area IMO and all the restaurants are very good

Tacos is the answer. Trompo or El Si Hay is Bishop Arts, Revolver Taco in Deep Ellum, Taquero on Ross at Lowest Greenville, El Come on Fitzhugh. For a gringo taco dallas chain, Velvet Tacos is great but not traditional.

I never thought they were anything more than average. I'm friends with the owners though and they are opening a similar concept on Frenchman street in NOLA soon.

I like it; had pimento cheese that was good, a good chicken salad sandwich and my friend had some egg dish that was good as well. I prefer Stock and Barrel right across the street, and their food is killer imo

Pecan Lodge is a heckuva BBQ joint. Can vouch for that.

Overall, probably my favorite spot to eat in Dallas. Not overly pricey and is simply a nice relaxing place. Food, drinks and service is always great.
