what are some places you have eaten that just had mindblowing views but also had good food? this combo is pretty rare.

Nepenthe in Big Sur is up there.

Food is very good...not the best i have ever had or anything, but better than most places with a view.

eta: and not nearly as scenic but the oyster bar in Grand Central Station is entertaining for people watching.

Post Ranch Inn just down the road from there is the most spectacular I have ever experienced. The view is breathtaking, the food is top notch, and they have one of the best wine lists I've ever seen. Caprice in Tiburon is cool too. Asiate, the restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental in NYC overlooking Central Park, is a pretty solid combo too, especially in the fall. Pat's in Henderson. Okay, not really on the last one.

ETA: the most "scenic" meal I've ever had was dinner at the Delano in Miami, outside near the pool, on a nice summer night when they were having a Jimmy Choo show on the other side of the pool. The view of the talent walking through the outdoor dining area to get to the pool was better than a bunch of rocks, trees, and water. Maybe I'm shallow, I dunno.

These are views of a city, not of nature, but 2 famous ones that come to mind in Paris are Jules Verne & La Tour d'Argent. I've been to neither. Jules Verne is in the Eiffel Tower and La Tour d'Argent is on the Seine near Notre Dame. They both have Michelin stars.

Windows on the World at the top of the WTC had very solid food. Great view as well.

I know the San Franciso Fisherman's Wharf haters are gonna ream me a new one, but McKormich and Kuletto's has an spectaculr view of the bay. Everyone is seated to face the giant window overlooking the bay..

I've been to Nepenthe, the food is ok, but there is much better in Carmel/Big Sur.
Those decks and view though are absolutely fab, worth the stop and climb.

The views from Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Vegas has Bellagio fountains, Caesars, and LV strip view.
Top of Mt restaurants on Mt Baldy in Sun Valley, Alpine Nine in Aspen, Heavenly's view of Lake Tahoe,
I had wished to visit one day NYC's Windows On The World and/or 42, also Chicago's Signature Room at the 95th.

EVERYTHING at that place was heaven! I can get used to my face being spritzed with Evian while sunbathing out by the pool!

damn, that place in Maui looks badass.

And yes, i know there is better food in Carmel/Big Sur than Nepenthe...but are there better views? Most places with perfect views don't have perfect food. They don't have to.

This was probably the best I've had. A resort in Sedona, eating on this terrace. We ate during sunset. The food was really good, if not knock your socks off amazing, but the whole setting was incredible. I had a buffalo steak, if I recall.

Headed back to Maui in February. Woo hoo. Last time I was in Hawaii we did a 5 island hop...so we only spent two days in Maui.

This time we'll be there for a week.

Get to stay and fly for free...so I'm not complaining.

P.S. I've never been to Sedona...but it's on my top 3 list of places in the US that I want to visit.

My mother has a friend that lived in Sedona, she ate there too. Love those red rocks.
