yeah

mikimoto is pretty good, you just have to know what specialty rolls to order. They have the best yaki udon in town IMHO.

Daiwa is Chinese too. It touts itself as Hong Kong sushi. I’ve only been to the Westbank location, but it’s a fun place.

Horinoya (RIP) was the most Japanese sushi in town. Nothing else is really close.

Really? I only go there for karaoke, but I swore it was Daiwa Sushi and Japanese Cuisine or something along that line

Luvi describes themselves as shanghai cuisine

I had no idea they closed. I've been there a handful of times. Their proximity is what prompted me to try La Thai, which I see is now closed as well.

No. It’s “Asian fusion”

Chef Gong is Chinese by birth but spent years doing Japanese/sushi. Worked at Sake Cafe for awhile. There is no rice but his raw predations are Japanese influenced. The cooked dishes lend their self to more Chinese style. There are also some Thai influences as well as Korean.

It’s unique and one of the best new spots in NOLA.

Kanno is still my favorite - it’s been consistently great for the past 20 years.

I love Luvi, but I spend $70-$80 and still leave hungry.

Kanno currently is my favorite
Little Tokyo on Causeway is tied for second with
Acura. Hard to beat their all you can eat system

I need to try Luvi. It cannot be a huge difference between kanno and Luvi when it comes down to the level of quality.

Costera is a lot better than La Thai ever was. Big upgrade IMO.

This is the best I have eaten at in the metro area.

For those who mentioned Kyoto... I miss it too

For weeknight sushi I really like Mikimoto drive through or delivery. As another poster mentioned it takes some trial and error as to which of their rolls you like. Most are good but I've definitely ordered some that I regretted after a bite or two.

Maybe you just eat more than I do, but I've never left hungry doing the Feed Me.
