Chophouse and LA boca are two of the most overrated steak houses in New Orleans
Unless something has changed in the last few years, LaBoca was the best steakhouse for the money to me for a very long time. I love how great they could make the "lesser" cuts of meat taste.

Doris by far imo.
La Boca for something different.
Mr John’s for more...old school.

I’ll add Mr johns is really good and consistent....like a Ruth’s Chris on steroids. Doris can be the best steak you’ve ever had or pretty damn good. It won’t be bad, but I’ve found it to not be as consistent.
Pretty spot on

I’d reverse that list
Mr. John’s (very consistent)
La Boca (love the different cuts)
Doris (when it’s on it’s on, otherwise can be just ok)

Have eaten at both Doris and Mr Johns recently and there was no comparison- Doris was much better. Also found the atmosphere at Mr Johns to be a little... stale?

You prefer a Doris steak cooked on an open flame with the little criss crossed grill marks vs the full crusted sear of the high temp broiler Mr John’s uses
I mean the atmosphere you call “stale” is one of the reasons people prefer Mr John’s. Along with the service and attention to detail that come with being locally owned. A place where you get the same server every time ya go and the owners know you’re name.
Doris is a chain owned by out of town middle easterners, their restaurant is going for a different vibe in a different location in the city. Which is fine. Different strokes
