Come on, bro. There are literally dozens of smokehouses and meat markets that put out superior products. I like Conecuh for what it is, but let's be realistic.

I personally don't care for Manda, Savoie's, or Richards. I'll eat them if that's all there is, but they're nothing special.

As far as Morrell, Eckrich, and Hillshire Farms, I wouldn't feed those glorified hot dogs to my dog.

I’ve bought it at Rouses and AG stores.

I've checked the two Rouses closest to where I live, and they don't carry it. I'll have to check Lamendola's.

I might be the only one in the world but I use turkey sausage when I boil for just the family.. It's not greasy, doesn't over power the crawfish and sucks up seasoning well.

I’m not totally sold on turkey sausage but my wife sneaks it into things like red beans and jambalaya and I must admit it’s good enough. Very underrated.

ETA: it’s like a safe bet sausage when you don’t want to risk adding anything too crazy and just want a basic normal sausage addition.

Can’t believe only one mention for Veron’s. I think it’s the best of the grocery store sausages. Haven’t seen any people say bad things about it. Must mean a lot of people haven’t tried it.

I don't hate it. There just so many better options than Manda's at the store.

Well for general consumption, sure. But for a boil, it's perfect. Sausage in a boil isn't supposed to be all that big of a deal. It's there as a side, not a main event.

Why ruin a better quality sausage than Manda in a crawfish boil? Just get some good quality inexpensive stuff like that.

I don't get the Manda low quality comments. I've seen their processing first hand. They grind Boston butts. No, they aren't the same as the local meat market, but they have figured out how to process smoked sausage and have made a great business in Baton Rouge.

Mass produced doesn't make it low quality. Their processing plant is a big operation, double the size of other Louisiana processors, so they make way more than the others.

It's all pork with no fillers. The national brands are usually not all pork and have fillers yet Manda is a local company that competes with them using an all pork sausage. Impressive if you ask me.

i am kinda shocked by the Manda hate too. It is perfect for crawfish boil.

For the love of god, stop putting deer sausage in your boil.

Johnsonville is the official sausage of the SEC. I like their Brats. Has anyone on here put Brats in a Crawfish Boil? I bet they would be good.

This post got a lot of hate, but their Better with Cheddars in a crawfish boil are delicious.

You don’t make it. You are a helper.
homemade sausage and or boudin is not difficult to make as long as you have the proper equipment. It’s the seasonings that matter

I love grilled or smoked sausage to eat with crawfish. Boiled with the crawfish has never appealed to me.
