My favorite is La Provence.
Used to be one of my favorites. The last two times I've been, it has just been ok.

Commander's Palace is the total package and the one restaurant that would be synonymous with Louisiana/New Orleans.

I'm gonna throw out a wild card and say Maison Lacour in BR.
It's an unusual (in 2016) dining experience. Maybe not for everyone but the food has always been phenomenal.

Christiano in Houma never fails to disappoint.
There was a place in New Orleans called Sara's that was really, really good but they closed down a couple of years ago.
As far as dive-y type of places, I could eat and get a beer at the Pickle Barrel in Monroe or a poboy and a bloody mary at Spahrs any day of the week.

The best overall restaurant experience in Louisiana I've had was at August.

Fancy and expensive doesn't make a restaurant great.
Tell me where this restaurant is in Metairie.

Well, for one, it isn't in Metairie. It is in the Lake Marina area of New Orleans.
Its a grill. They serve breakfast. And sandwiches and stuff.
That's if he's referring to Russell's Marina.

That's what I was assuming, but didn't want to point it out in case I was missing something in Metairie name Russels.
It's an ok breakfast place, but a bottome tier lunch place in Nola. Not sure how it ended up on this thread about best restaurant in La. LOL

The frick? Not even top 10 restaurant in Shreveport
My vote goes to either August or Commanders
I prefer August, but the wife would say Commanders. Different dining experiences, but both phenomenal.
