I miss my shreveport restaurants.

I'm going to early dinner up there tonight, with my ex, before our son's soccer playoff game. So, casual, moderately priced to cheap, and something that will hit the spot after a few Commotions at Great Raft.
Obviously, romantic is not on the list.
Oyster Bar

Good call. Oyster Bar isn't phenomenal food or anything, but it fits quite well in the situation.

Yeah, nothing adventurous on the menu for sure but it is good enough for what it is. I always enjoy it. I actually like their salsa a lot.

Oh, and I'd also like to suggest The Cub.
Knock back a few beers at Great Raft
Head over to a dive bar for more drinks and enjoy a good steak and au gratin potatoes.
Disclaimer: I haven't lived in Shreveport for a few years so I haven't been to The Cub in quite a while. So with that said, The Cub might not be what it used to be.

Probably the best thing about the restaurant.
- Real Pickle has Great Raft and Red River on tap
cheap, casual, lots of beers available.

Shreveport has some really good places in the realm of Italian, Mexican, Asian and Steak Houses.
I would never go to a Seafood place here.

I almost posted the same thing. I have gorged myself on their chips + salsa before.

nice. 4miles digs him some craft beer so that may be a good option. what about Marilynn's Place? I only went once a couple years ago when it first opened. do they do dinner?

Yeah they do dinner and should have Great Raft on tap as well. Give them a shot. Rotolo's ain't bad either. Easily the best beer selection in town and decent enough food.

Unfortunately, it looks like things haven't changed much since I lived in Shreveport.

Not sure where it is but I've been hearing good stuff about Twisted Root. I think it's cafeteria style with different types of burgers.

for a restaurant, Rotolo's beer selection would be decent anywhere, so I don't know what the problem is

was in that Rotolo's over Christmas break to try Great Raft + Red River beers. didn't order food, but I always thought their calzones were pretty decent. Just have to tell them double everything so they'll actually fill the thing up.

I ate at Dahn's a TON while I was there for the summer.
I also enjoyed Taco Mania for standard fare tex-mex, and loved the Taqueria place next to the classic car dealership on E Kings (?) whose name I can't for the life of me remember.

the taco truck is La Michoacana and it's fricking legit
Taco Mania.. not so much. And I used to rock Dahn's all the time for lunch. was always the best Asian place in Shreve, although there's not very much stiff competition.

They have actually built on a kitchen now. They arent cooking out of the truck anymore. They have expanded the dining room significantly. It's still delicious, but the tacos are now $2.25.

That's it. 2-3 Tacos and a Mexican Coke was my favorite lunch in town for sure.

With the wife, nothing to upscale, just looking for a cool spot with good food.
