i can't attest to "best" because i've only had it at one place in NOLA but I had really good chicken and waffles at Luke. can't remember if it was a special or regular menu item, though.

It is not going to easy to find it on a menu in NOLA, much less a best.

Best used to be cobalt. One of the few things they did really well.

What exactly is chicken and waffles? Just waffles and fried chicken?

Doesn't seem like the combination would go well, but obviously people like it.

supposed to have started in Harlem. Was a good late night, after clubs, meal for everyone

and yes, it's waffles + fried chicken. And it's awesome, cause both items are awesome

It's been around since forever in the ghettos of California.

eta: There are places that just serve them in a brown paper bag. Waffles on the bottom, fried chicken on top and syrup on the side. You just poor it in the bag, shake it up and dump onto your plate.

Roscoes in Los Angeles is well known by most foodie people even if they've never been there

They have so many anorexic, thin black people in New Orleans, especially the women, this menu item would really solve that problem.
