Best Mandarin Chicken in NOLA?

I admit, I love the stuff. Seems like nowhere makes it quite as good as it used to be. Does anyone know a place that makes a legit version?

5 Happiness has a terrific mandarin duck

Not in New Orleans but Cathy Inn across from Zypher Field is the best around. In the city, I would say that China orchid has the best mandarin chicken.

Was our go to place after House of Lee closed. Lord that brings back some memories from the 80's ~ 90's. The Mandarin duck is the real deal.

I haven’t had the Mandarin Chicken but Little Chinatown in Kenner is the best Chinese food I’ve had in the area.

And the salt and pepper chicken wings are some of the best wings I've had anywhere.

Little Chinatown is the best Chinese resturaunt in the area but their mandarin chicken isn't traditional NOLA crappy Chinese style.

Cathay inn, or china kitchen in marrero. China kitchen looks like a hole in the wall but they make incredible chinese.

Yeah, I haven't ordered that there, but I wouldn't suspect they'd be doing that NOLA style "mandarin chicken." If that's what you're looking for, the chinese place in the Canal Place Food Court for the win.

I've had Little Chinatown and I agree that it's the best overall Chinese in the area, but they don't have the Mandarin chicken I'm looking for. I was getting all excited about Cathay Inn until it was mentioned that ownership has changed and now it isn't as good

Cathay Inn on Airline Highway by Zephyr Field has always been my favorite.
The gravy is very thick and peanuty. It’s always been my favorite thing there.

...but it was mentioned above that ownership has changed hands. Anybody been recently?

I've tried Mandarin Chicken at several places in NO and on the North shore. Everyone I tried was just a fried chicken breast with a light caramel colored sauce and a few almonds. I want to find the old styled mandarin chick/duck that was pressed, battered, fried and cut into cubes in a dark brown gravy with lettuce/bok choy in it and almonds. The main thing is it was shaved fine and pressed, not just a flat piece of meat fried.
