They’ve been struggling last couple of times I’ve been there.

Highway Fried Chicken is another spot to try. It’s on Jefferson Hwy, near Central.

Pretty good list. I'd add (in addition to others which were added):

Taqueria Corona (Severn at W. Esplanade)
Guillory's (neat little hole in the wall lunch spot hidden away on Derbigny Street: sandwiches, plate lunch specials and GREAT tamales)

Byblos (either Vets location with the market and counter service with tables/chairs, or Metairie Road with the full waiter service restaurant)

more on Metairie Road:
The Galley
Blue Line Sandwich Company
Porter and Luke's
If you want some good Indian food, try Taj Mahal's lunch buffet, Metairie Road just east of Oaklawn.

a little further east on Vets, both close to Dorignac's:
Fury's
Fausto's

Sports Beat Pub & Cafe is the choice lunch spot of the Metairie CBD Power Brokers (movers and shakers, if you will).

Larder on Vets may be the best/hottest lunch spot in Metairie right now.

Mantra on Causeway near Vets is better than Taj Mahal.

Sandro's Trattoria in a strip mall on Vets just south of I-10 might also be the best Italian around, but don't tell anybody.

Bevi on Airline is no longer. It is now Bon Temps Boullet’s. (Haven’t tried it yet)

Just pull up google maps and look

Most places are good

I like Banh Mi Boys on Transcontinental, Parran’s on Vets, and Come Back Inn on West Metairie

(R&O’s by the lake and Mr. Roo’s on Severn are good too)

You hit the mother lode, Metairie has goodness on every corner. I agree with you on chains, a pox on their house.

We used to go to a little Italian joint near Rummel High School. Everybody in there looked like an extra in an episode of The Sopranos. Is Sandro's that place? I've been to Spitale's, too, and enjoyed the food.

Ciao Bella, it’s chef Andrea. Come see us at Andrea’s this weekend, start with a martini in the beautiful capri blu bar. I have wonderful ciopinno special on the menu, a light romato broth served over angel hair pasta. End your meal with my world famous spumoni and espresso martini. 3100 19th st in metry. See you then, ciao!

There he goes, chef Andrea

Call right now you’ll get right in
