Got two last week. The cream cheese one wasn't cooked completely. Was very doughy to the point of being raw dough on the corners. I don't think they rotated it.

Not to mention, ambrosia isn't even the best one on siegen lane...much less BR or in the New Orleans "area".

I like icing style king cakes like Randazos

Ambrosia is horrible, and not just their king cakes. Their top seller is their "fresh strawberry cake" which is a cake "frosted" with Cool whip (
) and strawberries -- yet people pay an arm and a leg for it

Curious, which one is better.

Just ride to Navarre's Bakery in Springfield and get the best king cake ever made

What's so special about them? Did you get a traditional one or a filled one?

My largest issue with the Manny Randazzo's cake is the ghetto looking sprinkles on top. I like the colored sugar on king cakes.
Dong Phong is really good. There is a smaller bakery uptwn that has a good one but I forgot their name.

Tartine is #1 by a long shot. Unbelievable King Cake.

Anyone had a slice from Willa Jeans? It looked good when I went last year, but the price kept me from ordering. Randazzos is the best I've had.

O'Delice? Had one last Saturday and it was great. Tartine has a great one as well. I'm not even a fan of king cake, but I do like those two.

These are so amazing. Nanette makes the absolute best, and if you get them filled, she makes homemade fillings that are fresh, sweet and wonderful.
