What is your go to if price wasn’t an option? I like the Dong Phuong the best but they are so hard to get fresh.

Is wait time and/or availability excluded too?

if you're in the city, they distribute to a ton of places

they're my favorite, but I had one from tartine over the weekend and it was damn good too.

We had one shipped to us to see what all the rage was about. Meh.

A fat girl told me that the cinnamon pecan king cake from Cajun Pecan House is the best one ever. She says they ship it ‘undressed’ and you ice it yourself.

Agreed - I like them a lot, but if you don't get them fresh they're pretty dry. I also don't get all the intense hype around them. They're good, but I feel like there are a lot of good king cakes out there and none really stand head and shoulders above the rest to me. They're all different.

I don't see their name pop up a lot, but I really like Gambino's apple filled from Baton Rouge. I also had a Tartine's king cake this weekend and it was fantastic.

Best IMHO, glad it flies under the radar for the most part.

Bought a large AW from Keller's in Youngsville 2 weeks ago. Solid king cake as I almost shite in my pants when the lady said "that will be $65 Sir"

Why do people get so excited over glorified cinnamon rolls? Fatties will stand in a line at Manny Randazos at 5:00am but don’t have time to workout. It amazes me the stupidity of people.

Fair point, but is it really better than a hot Cinnabon from the mall?

Apparently many people think so.

In some ways it is. No doubt.

They are different desserts/pastries though. Never understood why people think a cinnamon roll is the closest thing to a king cake.
