Is the massive and rather unhealthy Zydeco Salad IMO

Went climbing at high point in Chatt yesterday morning and decided give Walk Ons another try after getting a massively disappointing shrimp po boy last time since it was across the street. Tried this salad after remembering this thread, it was pretty tasty. I’d go back for it. Split it with the wife and got some fried fish as well. Would go back for this one over the barely any shrimp, shrimp po boy.

I appreciate that their online menu has photos of all the food. I wish everywhere did that.

There’s a lot of dishes on LSU’s menu that aren’t on the main website menu. You can see them if you go to the Order Online part. The Cajun Cuban there is one of my favorites.

It was the Blackjack Chicken Sandwich until they switched it to tenders

This is disappointing if true. Was always my go to.

surf and turf burger
tuscan chicken

but, actually their onion rings are my favorite. Sucks that they removed them from the appetizer menu.

They're on the sides menu last I saw, if that's any consolation!

I always liked the "warm turkey and Swiss sandwich." I don't see it on the menu. I guess its been discontinued.

Really good sandwich. Metairie subs chicken now but still has it.

The gumbo is top tier.

The cheeseburger on the previous style (sourdough?) bun was great.

Haven’t had Walk-Ons in about 12 years now.. But, this thread has convinced me they may have improved upon their Sysco/Rheinhart color-by-numbers past? I need to try that pictured salad and the Buffalo sandwich/wrap.

I had the same feeling previously but it is a solid chain now.

They actually have most of their dishes processed by Cajun a la Cart, heat and eat sauces, soups, stews, etc.

Cajun a la Cart is the company that processes for restaurants. Sysco and Reinhart only sell groceries to restaurants.

Their ahi tuna salad is my go to. Very large, tasty salad.

Their burgers are usually pretty solid, as well as the buffalo chicken sandwich/wrap

Seems like their sliders, i mean they made an entire separate restaurant just to sell them.

Y’all are telling me that the zydeco salad isn’t on my diet?? It’s a salad. How can it be unhealthy?

It’s the only thing I order when I go, and I usually add extra jalapeños.

This thread made me want to go to Walk On’s last night. I had the Red fish, and it was very good. Son got the crawfish 2 ways and it was also good. Service was great- we’ll be back again soon
