You got them in the correct order in your post.
All 3 cities have plenty of great spots though.

Terry Black's in Austin is amazing.
That's all I've got.

They all have awesome BBQ joints. No need to have to pick which is the best.

Id rather stick to an area rather than drive all over in a rental. Gas isnt cheap lol

There are several great joints in all 3 cities. But since I live near Houston, I'll select Houston - the BBQ capital of the world.
Have eaten at Hutchins and Pecan Lodge in Dallas area and Micklethwait's. LA Bbq, and Terry Black's in Austin. All buy Mickelwait are top-shelf.
In Houston, of those I've eaten at I would readily recommend:
Corkscrew
The Pit Room
Roegels
Killens
Truth
Brett's

Have been to Pinkertons. Thought it was good but not as good as the others. Just one man's opinion.
Hoping to hit up Tejas Chocolate and Revielle soon.

Austin is the best by a long shot.
Houston and Dallas went from having zero really good spots to a few each in the last 5 years. Really great to see.
