RIP China Taste.
Yep. Went there for years. When Momma-san Chang withdrew from the overseeing the kitchen the food became iffy.

I now go to China Star next to the Albertson's at the corner of Burbank and Bluebonnet.

Family owned and managed. Free crab rangoon order (6 pieces) if the total order is over $30.

I used to really like two places very close to each other back in the day in the Sherwood area - Bamboo House and Egg Roll King - both long since closed.

Now i go to China Bear at the in that strip mall on the corner of Bluebonnet and Perkins near BWW. It's good, don't go to near enough to know which is best. I do also like the one on Coursey - China Express.

You’re thinking of nine dragon. It’s still open.

Back in the late 2000's/early 2010's, there was a Chinese place off of Burbank in the same shopping center as Mellow Mushroom.

Nine dragon, it’s still there, consistently pretty decent and cheap.

They’re excellent. Crouching Dragon near Bass Pro is also very good.

It's not a high end place, but Oriental Pearl is our favorite.

Loved that place late 90s until I picked up a 'clean' plate near the food bar and 20+ small roaches ran from under it, all over the other plates. A worker nearby grabbed a stack of the 'clean' plates and rushed them to the back.

Not a buffet if that’s important. But it is delicious. Wish it was closer.

Was Taste of China the place on Airline just north of 12? Next door to that Holiday Inn?

No matter if you ordered 1 egg roll, or 5 combos, or during peak lunch rush or off hours, it was always gonna be 10 minutes. Miss that place. Got a special place in my heart for hole in the wall Chinese places since I moved away.

Good to hear, they seemed like nice people. That area was a cheap college kid neighborhood back in the day (late 2000's) has completely been redeveloped last time I was there, good to hear some things are consistent.

Loved that it was so full they had to staple your box shut. Think it was under $6..
