China Bear near Perkins Rowe is pretty good takeout Chinese

China Bear is my favorite among the little strip mall Chinese places. The hot lunch line special is my go to for quick work day lunch in the area.

Does anyone recall the China Tiger on the LSU campus circa 1990?

Was that the place by Highland Coffees, close to Highland and Chimes? I remember there was a hole in the wall Chinese place there I ate at all the time because the buffet was dirt cheap. (Great Wall was the fancy buffet)

Chinese or Asian in general? I prefer Viet and Thai over Chinese.

Off topic, but does anyone remember a Chinese restaurant called Shing's on Government back in the 1980s?

Shing's wasn't always a cheap buffet place. I remember going there before and enjoying it. The buffet lines killed Chinese food.

RIP Bamboo House. This was my favorite when it was open. Right off Sherwood at I-12. Had a Mongolian BBQ as well.

looks nice.

Florida/Sherwood doesn't sound like a good place to be at night.

China bear was probably one of the first picture menu places here right before they spread like wild fire. They're actually pretty solid though compared to others

The bamboo garden or whatever it was called off of Essen was solid when they were a sit down and order place. I think eventually they had to just go all buffet and then died shortly after.

As I recall Bamboo Garden had the buffet and a menu order. It was strange but buffet was not great but the menu items were really good. I miss that place.

That’s the one! I ate there at least once per week between classes. My future wife would meet me there, but all she would eat off the buffet was the sesame chicken.

Glad this was the first reply. Good lord I tore that place up. We would destroy it on the way home from Saints games. I would also get it to go quite often. As long as you could close the container you were good. I would fill that fricker with all the meats.
