It was a Mr. Gatti’s by at least 84 then (but I think it was even earlier).

The Mr. Gatti’s by campus opened in 1983 and closed 30 years later in 2013.

College Drive
When I was a student at LSU my game day date was to take a coed to the football game and then for pizza at Godfather’s after the game.
Since students got in games free back then my entire Saturday night date only cost about $15. Hard to beat for a poor student

I was at The Chimes recently and was telling how good Godfathers was back in the day across the street. I remember waiting about three hours in college for a delivery. I think we gave up and drove to pick it up.

It was somewhere in that area but my memory is pretty fuzzy.

The one on the second floor of the building on the corner of Highland and Chimes. That is the only one I went to but I was a regular.

Jones Creek, but that is because it was walking distance from my high school and job. If they were busy they would let me go make my own personal pan in the back and often wouldn't charge me for it.

Now, this is what is important, what was the topping on the dessert pizza? It was just crumbly sweetness, not sure what made it the way it was.

I was young when they had them in New Orleans so I never really understood the whole mafia connection otherwise I would've eaten there all the time.

Corner of Essen and Perkins has been a Gattis for as long as I can remember…prior to mid-80s.

There was a Godfathers on College at Village Square. A similar set up to the Essen Gattis…close to the road on kind of a corner. Later became the Great Wall. I recall going my freshman year of high school —1984.

My favorite Godfathers was the LSU location at Chimes and Highland. It seemed so cool going there in jr high and high school with all the college kids around.

Yep. It’s the only full Godfathers in the state. The others are Godfathers Express and only serve the partial gas station menu (no original crust).

It’s a weird setup though - there is no seating inside. But the pizza is exactly the same.

To this day their chocolate chip dessert pizza is the best dessert pizza I've ever had. That crumbly topping is different from what any other pizza place used.

I'm going to Texas next week and I'm definitely getting Godfathers.

Marrero. Barataria and Lapalco in Oak Ridge Plaza. There use to be a movie theater in the corner that would play movies 2-3 months after their release…it was the cheaper option back in the early 90s.
