Just got the paper and Rouses is selling leg quarters for $.37 a lb. in 10 lb. bags with a limit of 4 bags per customer.
So, if looking for a bulk supply of legs and thighs, now's the time to get them.
And the added benefit is the cut off pieces makes a great stock to boot. Not a lot of waste buying them like that.

It should be there too. Check the sale ad that runs from 1/26-2/2
They also have a good price on pork tenderloin at $3/lb.

Yeah, and I use to be able to buy 100 lb. sacks of oysters with 20-22 dozen in the sack for $10. Hurts to think about how much they've gone up over the years.

I buy those things all the time when they get under 4 bucks for those 10 lbs bag. Throw them on the grill for an hour or so and they are fantastic and cheap.

leg quarters rank up there as the most delicious inexpensive meat you can buy. throw them on top of some rice & mushroom soup mixed with some white pepper, thyme and poultry seasoning and bake in the oven for an hour and you got a tasty freaking meal

Last time i bought quarters like this, the pieces were all huge.
And tough.
My guess is they were laying hens that ran out of usefulness. Now I check the size of the pieces so I know what I'm getting.

Good deal! I got a meat grinder & sausage stuffer setup for Xmas and have been waiting on boston butts and shoulders to go on sale, any of you lads seeing anything of that sort on sale?

Doesn't look like pork butts or shoulders are on sale this week. If you're really itching to use it, I guess you could try to make chicken sausage using leg quarters.

You, me and many other folks waiting for the good ol' days of $.99 a lb. pork butts.
I make my own sausage using them and it's been months since I've seen them that cheap. The wife did manage to get 2 a couple months ago at Winn-Dixie but lately the cheapest I've seen them is $1.49 a lb. and have seen them as high as $2.50+ a lb. at times.
I'm thinking I'll get me three 10 lb. bags and bone them all out to use to make chicken based sausage since I already have a couple dozen quart bags with leg quarters put up in the freezer.

I saw these a few weeks ago on sale and the bag looked filled with bloody liquid. It wasn’t like the fresh ones in a pack. I didn’t pull the trigger.

Well, they are frozen bags of leg quarters and they do have that little extra bone from the pelvis still attached to most of them.
I mean, for $.37 a lb. it's worth letting a pack thaw out and trimming them out. It's not like you'd be out more than the cost of a draft beer at the local watering hole.
