How are so-called cooks making it onto a show on Netflix, when they don’t know anything about a Carolina Reaper? One woman used one as a garnish, and another supposedly boiled down 20 for a sauce.

I watched the first two episodes then shut it down, and I love BBQ. It’s a pretty horrible show. First season wasn’t nearly as bad.

I don’t think any of them claim to be all around trained chefs or anything. There’s one guy on there who has an industry background and he talks about how that sets him apart from all the others that just “do bbq”

They make bbq. It’s certainly understandable that some may not know exactly how to use a certain type of pepper.

The show also encourages them to do something to stand out and be different, so maybe they thought that would be unique without actually understanding the pepper.

I watched the first season and didn’t think it was too bad. They don’t come across as professional cooks. Just people who like to bbq. I liked how the gave them some challenges with different cooking styles.

Them being normal cooks and not pros makes it more understandable that they didn’t know what certain things are.

The new host is annoying af. I really want to know how tf they recruit the people for the show. Its also annoying how each time the judges taste their food... its "the best piece of [insert smoked meat] theyve ever had"

Its entertaining for sure but wish they actually put real BBQ pros in there.

Why should it be required they know what a C Reaper is to be legitimate? How many top BBQ joints even use extremely hot peppers in their food?

The host of the show is what drove me crazy

"I've got 19 grand master championships" - old lady. Old lady then proceeds to not understand time management.

Also the "Tri Tip King" did not know how to cut a tri tip.

This season was worse than last season. I hated it.

the woman judge also has a strong case of constant resting bitch face

I watched 1 or 2 episodes of the first season. It was way too polished for a bbq cooking show.

BBQ Pitmasters was and is superior.

I'll re-iterate that the host is the worst part of the show.

I almost made it onto Masterchef a couple years ago. Never cooked a single dish in front of them. Simply brought what I prepared from home like everyone else.

Went through a couple of interviews and the last one was filmed and sent off to the producers. Didnt make it bc I was too nice aka didnt have enough drama.

Vast majority of those reality cooks have no clue how to actually cook.

The winner was actually likable so that was a plus.

The new host is terrible. And them making the contestants cook using random methods seemed way worse than it did in the first season.

For a “BBQ” completion they really didn’t let them use the offset very much and always made them use the trench. Heck they used a Traeger more than an offset.
