Sadly, the service was as bad as I have ever experienced. I didn't really care as it was a soft opening and it's a casual place. They didn't bring us 1 of the apps we ordered.

yea - it seemed the servers had no idea what the menu was or what they were serving in general. i had read very similar in an early week review i found, so i wasnt shocked, but like you said - it was about as poor as possible on that front.

should hopefully get it straight though as its not a difficult menu by any means and even if it means cutting some staff and starting with some fresh folks it shouldnt be hard to do.

and ill say again - food was really good and ill still be back soon

Clearly TD lurkers. ha
I didn't post anything on FB or Yelp. They were very gracious inspite of the poor service.

i didnt either - i did see one review mentioning it.

i think they heard/saw the problem all week though. when i left one of the owner/manager types asked me how the experience was and i told them the food was great and they immediately apologized for the service without me even mentioning it. it sounds like they were aware of your issues as well without you bringing them up. gives me high hopes for stuff getting sorted out quickly.

2nd round today for lunch. Absolutely no service issues. Food was outstanding as always. Our 3 top ordered an order of the lemongrass wings(best wings around), 1 spring roll(good), then 2 vermicelli dishes 1 chargrilled pork(looked good)and 1 trifecta (absolutely awesome), and 1 salt & pepper shrimp with rice(looked delicious).

The only problem last time appears to have been remedied. Tan Dinh is now officially on the East Bank!!

Here is my trifecta dish. Only pic. Chargrilled pork, BBQ pork, and pork belly.

i did the trifecta the first trip and it was really good. i think i enjoyed the chargrilled portion the most but all 3 were delicious.

I am counting the 1 trip I made to Tan Dinh, for a total of 3 excellent food experiences. Sorry, but 2-3 times if all were outstanding, then that is always for me. I guess you had a bad experience there, R2R, or is this some sour grapes grammar lesson?

Tan Dinh on the WB =/= Ba Chi Canteen

just pointing out that going twice doesn't warrant an "as always" label

I'm definitely going to try Ba Chi, but why does everyone like Tan Dinh so much.

I work at the Courts on the WB a lot and typically go to PTB usually, and have still never made it to TD. So whats the word?

ill add to that - everyone ive spoken to has said food was excellent... so i might be inclined to use "food was good, as always" a little more loosely until i have reason to suspect otherwise.

I find Tan Dinh to be much better than PTB. Better pho. Better bun...especially the char grilled pork. But damn...those wings!

Mea Culpa!!! I would eat anything with that spicy lemongrass sauce on it.

I can't speak to PTB, but my Viet'pert friends claim it is overrated and living on rep.

I frequent Kim Anh's due to convenience, it's very good but TD blows it out of the water. IMO. The flavor's are much more enhanced, menu is bigger(too big) but with more options.
Definitely put it on the to do list.

Alright. I'll need someone to go with me soon during the week then.

My wife won't go to the Westbank.

So I'll have to rope someone in over here.

That was just R2R stewing some, he probably had Lilly's again for lunch.

Yeah, I'm just giving him shite. He was suppose to join the first journey to Ba Chi but couldn't get out of work on time. He's a little butt hurt about the whole thing.
