This is hilarious because she’s gone against even the already strict rules of New Orleans and made her own rules stricter for the time she was open.

Must be trying to make up for what she spent prepping food in her home kitchen for sale without a license.

Normally she just sells her cellar stock to Dan under the table.

I know his sales must be struggling now too

Probably neither, just heard there was a 2nd stimulus coming and decided people have disposable income to blow

I think #7. I’ll have to check the date when I get home.

He’d be killing if he’d open his doors. His arcane take out procedure is awful.

I've done several vertical beer tastings over the years. It has been my experience that age does little to nothing for most beers. It has also been my experience that the older the bottle, the greater the odds that the beer is bad, flat, or just stale and flavorless.

There is no way I'd spend that amount of coin on a 5 year old beer. You can't just shrug and say "well that one was bad, what's next?"

Hell, Lot 2

Cantillon Super Blend 2015 -- blend of 30-month old Iris and 44-month old Grand Cru Bruocsella lambic. 750 ml $2000.00 each

Some of that beer was brewed in 2011. The bottle was designed to be drank in 2015, not 2020.

I guess some guys need something for their trophy case.

How many verticals have been of lambics and geuzes? Because I can assure you that age does a lot for those styles.

She and the Courtyard nutjob both continue cheerleading for the Mayor and Governor they helped elect, even while they are having their businesses ruined by them. Smh

Prices are reflective of what people will pay.

She will find someone to pay the price.

No one is defending the price, just pointing out to the other poster that sour beer, and lambic in particular, age very well over the years.

Nothing ages $2000 well, though.

He's defending the style of beer and it's ability to change for the potential better over time.

this all day long!

I haven't been to Avenue Pub in probably 7 years but it is a bar so don't expect retail prices. I know it is to go but still...

I freaking love Foune so if I walked into a bar and saw lots 3-7 on the menu I would order any without hesitation. Fruited Cantillons retail here for about $45ish so twice mark up for a bar aint too bad. Where the frick else you gonna get it?

Read what other people have said. Not even talking about prices, but there's a reason that even in 2020 people with expendable income lose their minds over Cantillon from the 70s and 80s if they have the opportunity to obtain it. It's not because it's bad.

She will find a handful of people to pay those prices. Some because they want the beer, some because they have expendable income and view it as an act of charity.

The pricing on lots 3 through 7 all seem pretty reasonable compared to what people routinely for those beers on the secondary market. I love lambic and I wouldn’t pay those prices (the actual retail price is high enough), but I think she won’t have trouble selling those since it’s hard to find it at retail and the mark-up isn’t crazy for a bar.

Lots 1 and 2 are super rare and sought after, so not sure what she based the pricing on, but really rare lambic will sell for similar prices. I’m just hard-pressed to believe she will find any takers locally, even for one bottle. I’ve had pours of both of those at some event she did a few years ago. 1 was really good, but really no better than Fou or any other high end fruited cantillon. 2 wasn’t even really enjoyable (very earthy/bitter), maybe some time has done it well, but I doubt it.
