I shop at the Grocer beside Mr Chen's but have never dined there. I looked at his photos on Google and see no real difference with his stuff and most other. If you really want to try it out, you probably need to go to a city with a "China Town" and go to a restaurant there. I have done this in San francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, and Chicago. Not too much difference to me. Harder to get chicken feet, gold coins, and Pig eyes at most Americanized Chinese places I guess.

I ate at the top authentic Chinese restaurant in Houston last year in CHINA TOWN. It was real real real bad.

Bad meaning bad, or bad meaning good?
I personally love Houston Chinatown

People think they want authentic Chinese food until they realize it's eel heads sauted in a gravy of peppers, possum bladder, and lithium, served over rice steamed with turd water.

I read once though, that if you want authentic Chinese in the United States, you have to go to New York.
Or San Francisco.
You can confirm the authenticity of a Chinese restaurant by how much weird shite is available.

As I've been told by many people who have lived/worked in China, "never ask a person in China what you're eating"

An authentic Chinese restaurant will feature sweet and sour pangolin.

I've spent over 9 months total working in China, in two different areas (Shanghai/Kunming) and not once did I see hardly anything close to what is in the typical "chinese" restaurant in the states.
No such thing as lo mein as we know it, general tso's chicken, etc, etc.
The dumplings were close to the same but not much else.

I ended up at Lee’s Asian Fusion over the weekend and snapped some menu pics that I didn’t see online. There’s much more but these are the last three in the rear of the menu

I've had their version or Mr. & Mrs. Smith (popularized at Pepper Twins in Houston) and it was solid.

Pepper Twin rocks. There’s a dish or two they serve with fresh green Sichuan peppercorns. Super numbing
You probably know this if you order it but just sharing for others) Mr Mrs smith is a great Americanized name. The Chinese name is “Married Couple’s Slices of Lung"
It was originally lung and tongue slices and apparently the couple was one of many vendors selling it but there’s was unique and sought after. I don’t know if it’s still organ meat. Ive never actually ordered it

Yeah, my wife and I went to his restaurant a few times then started going to the Marietta location then another location opened even closer to Smyrna. Loved the super spicy dishes they made. Their dry fried eggplant with super spicy numbing was highest level.

The best Chinese I ever had was Tasty China 2 near Sandy Springs. His numbing chicken dish was called Shan City Chicken. So damn good but I think my whole face was numb. I’d love to eat that dish again
