Of course it was...

That's what happens when you artificially inflate the price of crawfish for every reason under the sun. When something might actually impact the crawfish, no one believes you "poor farmers".

dude, no matter what the weather is like, the prices are going to be through the roof.

its been this way for years.

examples- one year the main complaint was gas prices. gas prices tank. prices stay up.

its not that big of a deal. we still buy your shite. just let us bitch about your racket

Yup, it's called price gouging. Last year they were supposed to be cheap until about late January when they made up some other bullshite reason to increase prices. As predictable as the sun shining tomorrow. Which I'm sure will be another reason the prices will be high.

I dont consider it price gouging. The prices are high because of Texas. Just say the idiots in Texas, who most dont know how to cook crawfish, will pay out the arse for them.

The temp, rain, gas, co2, wind, farts excuses are laughable now

It still goes back to supply and demand. I don't understand why otherwise normal people can't figure that out.
Attn folks..... Crawfish are more in demand from other states every year. Prices will remain high until after Easter

For those complaining about the price do you really buy that many crawfish in a season to where it affects your bank account? Is it just a matter of principle because it was so cheap back in the day?

It does, because compared to the past (with last year being the exception) crawfish prices get so high that I cannot afford them and have to go with out.

Rice gets flooded way sooner and deeper/longer than it should. Crawfish come out way too early. Many die due to heat/O2 depletion in water. Couple that with a drought, yeah, pas Bon.

Don't try to talk sense to these morons. They all want free crawfish. Nothing else will do.

ETA: The real answer is demand. We have trucks coming in every day from Texas. They have cash and a lot of it. They will also buy ANY and ALL over catch.

And most of us understand that. I just like making fun of the farmers for always coming up with some excuse rather than just stating the fact that they would rather make more money selling to out of state consumers. Truth be told, I'm part of the problem. I pay a premium to get live crawfish up here in Tennessee, and there are plenty more people like me here. If a farmer and middle man can get a dollar more per pound selling to suckers like me, more power to them.

I'm not sure if this board will ever learn that farmers do not set the price for crawfish. They never have and never will.

Well, except for whatever happens next week/month/year. Then, that'll be the absolute worst weather for crawfish production.

Not at those prices. I just don't buy them. There are way too many other delicious things I can spend over $100 on than a sack of crawfish.
