Red Zeppelin Pizza is the best in baton rouge in my opinion.

Well pizza is a real passion for me and while none of you would know this the very best pizza is made in my kitchen (overt brag) however...Fleur de lis for me is something I have to be in the mood for. I do like it, just not all the time.

Now Pasttime is a different story. That is awful. Ive had tombstone frozen pizzas that were better than that.

In both cases I think many people are just nostalgic about eating it when they were younger and it conjures up good memories and nothing more.

I go every chance I get and can't get enough. My wife thinks I'm crazy and can't stomach it. Must be an acquired taste.

I agree. I like Fleur de lis, but Pastime is truly awful. Their calzones, though, are absolutely legit for some reason. My dad still eats Pastime religiously, though.

Ah yes, Reginellis. Let's see, they dropped our pizza coming out of the oven once, gave our pizza to someone else on another occasion, and on a third try, I was picking up. I arrived and they said it would be about 5 minutes before it was ready. I get it home, open the boxes and the pizzas were blackened. They actually made me wait so they could burn them. When it is done right it is good, though.
Never once did they offer a glass of beer or wine for my trouble.

I've been going since the late 60's although I don't go often now. It was never a "mob" run place and there was no motel. It had white frame cabins that were rented and my widowed grandfather rented one in the 40's when he came to town after working around here during the depression. One is still there and used for storage or was several years ago. It was owned by Italians - Junior Guercio and his wife who was a Distefano but far from being run by the mob. They were just like most people of that time, hard working people trying to make a living.

Their daughter took it over when he died and turned it into the family friendly place it is now and her daughters are running it now. It prior to that was just a working mans saloon that Juniors wife made the pizzas. You could buy a pint of whiskey and a set up and when you were done they kept what was left of your bottle behind the bar until the next time you came in. Joe Ragusa was the bartender along with Junior for all the years I went and he also was the ice cream man driving the truck through the neighborhood.

I played many pinball games in that smokey old joint and had my first beer - a Falstaff - there circa 1972 ish in the small glass with my father. It was his hangout and it was his fathers hangout. The pizza was good back then but then again in BR other than Little Italy Restaurant on Allello Drive what could we compare to? Now I can't imagine it being brick oven but whatever. It was good back then and that's good enough for me.

I'll take my grandpa's,, mamaw's, daddy's, aunt's, and uncles's word over yours. Sorry. Hell, my uncle Tommy, the last one standing, is more than happy to espouse on that subject to this day.
