I don't mean to be a prick but there's a thread for this almost weekly and a quick search will pull up lots of recommendations.

Just got back yesterday.

Everything in the threads will cover Asheville, however my advice is to plan a trip out to Morganton for Fonta Flora and dinner. Easily our highlight.

Linville is closed for hiking now just an FYI.

A place that may not have been mentioned is Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack. I went there when I was in Asheville and the food was insanely good with the hot chicken living up to its name and more.

I got the "Hot" and for me, and I like spicy foods, it was almost too hot. But the chicken was perfectly fried and the sides were good.

Overrated and touristy. Same with Curate' and Tupelo Honey.

Best meal we had was Stoney Knob in Weaverville.

Good rec. I stopped by there while I was in Asheville. I hadn't had hot chicken before so I don't know how it stacks up to the likes of Prince's or other famous hot chicken places, but I enjoyed it.. and it was legitimately hot. I got Rocky's Hot, one level below the hottest and it challenged me for sure. I got a little taster of the hottest and it was too much. The hottest is made with ghost chili pepper.
