Headed to Asheville, NC at the end of October and wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions of things to see and do and suggestions on where to stay. As of now my only plan is to check out the Blue Ridge Parkway and Chimney Rock. Is there any fun to be had Downtown. TIA

That's not a brewery? Not that we could find.

I had a hard time seeing all the fuss about Asheville. It seemed overly weird (Drum circle mentioned) and extremely boring.

The breweries are cool, but things start to get shaky after that. Maybe I was doing it wrong.

Omni Grove Park Inn. Even if you don't stay there, at least go get dinner at one of the restaurants or have a few drinks.

Downtown is ok, but pretty meh to me. Biltmore in October will be very nice.

Check out Navitat in Bernardsville. Great ziplining through the trees and over valleys. Well worth the $$$

I thought it was a neat downtown area, maybe I'm easily impressed. I'll agree though that the real outstanding gems are the breweries and the nearby outdoors activities.

there's been some threads on Asheville so do a search, but def do the Biltmore one day. Downtown is cool w/ tons of breweries and restaurants and shopping. The town has a really cool vibe. You're right in the mountains so take a short drive out of town and do a nice mountain hike. There should be plenty of places to stop along the BlueRidge Parkway

if you like breweries, you'll love Asheville.

Search "Asheville" on this board. This question is a weekly occurrence. Tons of info. BTW Chimney Rock is kind've a weird visit when you are a lot closer to more legit mountains and features along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I grew up 30 mins from Chimney Rock and lived in Asheville for some time.

Try to time your trip during the annual Right to Bear (or is it Bare?) Breasts demonstrations. Downtown is pretty lively that weekend.

Something relatively new downtown are drinks on the rooftop of the Hyatt Place. I haven't been yet, but my daughter and SIL say it has a great view.
