You used to be able to walk up to their bar area, but I bet it's not open right now due to COVID.

Couldn't hurt to call the morning of and see if they had any cancelations.

Try Wedge Brewing, Eurisko Beer Co, and Archetype Brewing. They are all a little further from the beaten path and less likely to be packed.

Bhramari was probably my favorite last time. DSSLVR second place.

I wanted to try Twin Leaf, but they were doing some sort of donut & beer pairing and it was packed. Burial was packed as well. Lines out the door just to get a beer.

Yea, I want to try curate, but they are all out of reservations. I've emailed them to see if there are any options or if it was even worth trying to walk in.

The demand for curate has been insane lately. Last time I checked they were a few months out.

Yea, that is what it looks like. I have a backup reservation at Tupelo Honey for friday night in case we can't get anything else. They are one of the few that aren't charging for a cancelled reservation. If I can somehow get us into Curate friday night, that is the goal.

We'll see what happens. Going to try and do Storm Rhum Bar saturday night if possible. One of the few places in Asheville I still haven't tried yet.

Yea, I tried doing that this morning actually, just to see the feasibility of it, but they don't seem like they want to ever answer their phone.

Good suggestion on the breweries. Bhramari is one i've been wanting to try, but wasn't able to make it to it the last time I visited.

My experiences so far this trip. Have been here since Monday. Lots of my normal haunts closed. I’m here on business so not venturing far from downtown or Asheville proper. Not experiencing any outdoor activities, which I’m sure are still A-ok. Strictly, eating, drinking, killing time places while I’m here working.

Luella’s on Merrimon- Good. Outside tents. Easy order process. Friendly staff

Barleys- Fine. Same as the old days other than less capacity and mask protocol. No Nazis

White Duck Downtown- Good. Order at the
Same register. Go to the back or back patio to eat. Easy enough

Wicked Weed- Outside drinking was nice yesterday. Didn’t eat

Pack’s- Smug pricks and angry assholes like this Boonetrail frickhead.

Bhramari- Drank a beer inside. Was ok

Grey Eagle- Small crowd. Rude waitstaff. Boonestrail-esque clientele. Have enjoyed the place in the past. No bueno now.

Overall, as I alluded to in my first post, it’s not a great vibe around Asheville right now, in my opinion. Usually it is. I was told the weekends are a mess with tons of people wanting to eat and drink and limited seating capacities. I would look elsewhere if you’re contemplating a getaway right now, with the focus being eating and drinking.

Plenty of food and drink options open in Knoxville right now.

Have to stop drinking at 11, though, or the 'rona will get you!

Thanks for the tips.

Yea this trip is actually a rescheduling of a trip we had planned for back in March that got cancelled for Covid. We were hoping that most functions would have been returned by now. Otherwise we probably would have planned for somewhere else.

We are getting in tomorrow around 1 or so and have a reservation for New Belgium. Going to try and hit as many of the breweries as we can thursday and friday. Biltmore Saturday afternoon. Just hop around to wherever we can saturday.

I fully expect it to be a bit insane with all the restrictions.

You can get in for lunch, and it’s a great lunch place.

We gonna be there from October 9th-14th. This thread is depressing me. Hopefully it’s better by then.

I'd look at Rhubarb over Tupelo Honey in that immediate area, if not Curate. Tupelo Honey has gotten rather "chainey".

Rhubarb doesn't have any reservation spots available.

Tupelo is solely to have a place I know I have a table waiting for me if we can't get anything else to work.

Gotcha. It's certainly not an awful place (and definitely fine for a sure thing fallback), just not all that interesting of late.

I've always loved Wedge Brewing, but haven't been in years.

Really like Golem, Witbier, and Bierre de Garde.

I'd strongly recommend taking a weekday to go to the breweries, they get packed as frick on the weekends
Thanks. I always go Sunday through Tuesday. The only place that has more than a dozen people is Twin Leaf on their trivia night.

Can I still drink beer at the breweries like Burial or Green Man or the new ones recommended or do I need a reservation?

I don't know... last time I was there was in February before the world went nuts.

I would certainly assume that any place that CAN be open will be open to some degree, even if it's just outdoor space.

Asheville is up to its hairy armpits with this filth. And it's a shame. Beautiful place.

i was coming here to say the same, i don't get the hype. i enjoyed the bus comedy tour around the city and the New Belgium tour was ok. All of the restaurants we went too were trying way too hard to be off the charts weird. We did encounter our fair share of bums on the corner. I am gad we took the trip but, I' do not plan to go back anytime soon.
