Anyone here a fan of soft boiled eggs?

I don’t make soft boiled eggs often because it takes a little longer than other basic eggs (fried or scrambled) for breakfast. But on slow weekend days, it’s just such a simple pleasure.
Does anyone know of a breakfast restaurant that serves soft boiled eggs?
I like 5 minute eggs. What’s your preference?

I like a good 6-7 minute egg with ramen and gumbo. It makes the broth so creamy. I also prefer gooey yolks with fried eggs.
No idea where to get them soft boiled for you though. Sorry.

Yeah, I think that restaurant’s with soft boiled eggs on the menu don’t actually exist.
It’s a shame. Seems like it would be a hit for some local breakfast nook type place.

Ah, you’re one of the sous vide nerds.
Ain’t nobody got time for thermometers when cooking an egg. Seems like overkill.
1) Boil some water (dash of salt),
2) slowly submerge eggs (no more than 4 in my small pot),
3) set timer for 5 minutes (maybe plus 1 minute to get back some of that temperature if cooking 4 instead of 2-3 eggs),
4) remove eggs and place in a bowl with ice water for awhile (2 minutes),
5) peel eggs carefully, using a small spoon to help separate the shell/membrane as needed.
6) dash of salt and black pepper (maybe a small dash of Tony Chachere’s if I’m in the mood).
7) enjoy with soft buttered toast and some breakfast sausage.

I believe you. Just pickin at you.
How often are you cooking eggs for more than a few people?
I’m talkin’ bout soft boiled eggs for me and my wife over coffee and the newspaper at the island.

I like em 6 min...but I have a chunk of thermal color changing plastic shaped like an egg. Goes from red to gray according to teno. It helps me hit perfect every time, cause size and starting temp of egg can make timing alone unreliable. I eat a bunch of farmers market eggs that vary widely in size.
Soft boiled in an egg cup, sea salt, toast soldiers, happy breakfast.

Love a soft boiled egg. I especially love one when it's part of a scotch egg:

Me, I prefer a good poached egg.

Homemade.
It's with boudin, which doesn't firm up quite like traditional sausage, but it's still pretty tasty.

I love them. We've bought a Ninja Foodi a few monts ago, and 10 - 11 minutes (depending on egg size) on the air fry setting does great soft boiled eggs.

takes s bit of practice I suppose, but they are delicious, with buttered toast.

So, basically a boudin ball with a soft boiled egg in the middle?

Pretty much.
Being that you can make them ahead of time, no idea why they aren't more popular.
Hell, if you hard boil the egg you can eat it on the go.

Underrated use is to slice them up and throw them on a sandwich. Dress it any way you want. My fav is with a fresh pesto or a cherry tomato/onion jam.

Usually when we have friends spend the night.
I have a little menu so people can let me know what they want so I know what to have on hand

I boil mine for 3 to 3 1/2 minutes.

My grandmother used to serve us soft boiled eggs in an egg cup with toast sliced into 4 strips o dip in them. Once you eat all the yolk, the white can be easily extracted by sticking a spoon in the top and scraping the shell in a circular motion.
I haven't thought of my mawmaw and her breakfast in a long time.
