I have never done it but my brother did last year. It was not as good as it seems that it should have been. It looked really good, but it just tasted off.

I would eat it again but I would prefer to make it using other methods.

I did one last New Years Eve. I followed Cowboy Kent Rollins' instructions (youtube) to the letter and it turned out perfect. I want to try it again but inject it with some sort of marinade, as it actually was a little bland.

Yes, last weekend. We smoked it. Let it rest. Then, deep fried it. It was delicious.

Now, was it worth all that effort? No

Yep. It was okay but want nearly as good as a good prime rib done in the oven. It had a crusty outside that tasted a lot like just about everything else that’s fried and the inside was just meh. Cooking it in the oven allows the seasonings to stick to the outside and the Maillard reactions to develop a much more complex flavor.

So bland is perfect?

I've cooked them in the BIG EASY Air fryer several times. Always came out great.

I injected mine with garlic butter last night. I also cut slits to push pods of garlic in it. Hopefully that will improve the flavor

The cook was perfect. It lacked seasoning because I didn't have a baseline to start with.
