I'll start my seeds this weekend. Gotta clean up the garden to get ready for another layer of mulch.

Should have started my pepper seeds earlier, since they take longer. I might actually hold off on starting the peppers since I am over-wintering a Scotch Bonnet, Congo Habanero and a Jamaican Hot Chocolate

A friend of mine swears by serranos.

Just got off the phone with a friend who works in a nursery. He also suggested serranos. He said there are some varieties of jalapenos that bring very little heat. He thinks I got some that were not properly labeled.

I'm going to have to do late night stakeouts to keep you out of my peppers.

It is quite possible. There is one popular variety out there called "Fool Ya" jalapeno. There are even no-heat ghost and scorpion peppers sprouting up online.

I did. It was a tough year for the garden with new junior. Spare time was at a minimum so I had little wife help from start to finish. They grew and sprouted and largely went unharvested.

They were just too damn hot to warrant the space in the garden.

I love the yard longs. We have always called them bicycle beans...dad uses a bike rim on the end of a pole. He then take string and ties one end to the rim and the other to the ground,,,like a circus tent. The long beans need a lot of vertical space and that set up solves the problem.

How tall is the pole from the ground?

6/8 ft...something like that. They grow up the strings nicely. Enthusiastic climbers.

There is a jalapeno called a TAM, that is not hot at all. It stands for Texas A & M

I don't care for yard longs or chinese beans

Beautiful peppers.

Do you string the reds on a thread and hang them strung up dried?

Do you have any problems with cross pollination having so many growing in the same garden?

My experience is always finding a supposed sweet pepper being fiery hot because I planted it too close to a hot variety and the bees crossed them for me into a big banana pepper sized and very hot pepper.

Hoping for a better year this year. Spring and fall gardens were almost complete dead losses due to rain.

Thanks. I dry them, but I use a dehydrator. I think the humidity here would prevent proper drying without them molding/rotting. I've never had any cross pollination issues. My understanding is that is only an issue if you turn around and replant seeds from the garden. So far all my sweets are sweet and hots are hot. I use a raised bed, so everything is pretty close together.
