Yeah, Mansfield and Ruston were the first 2 locations I knew of, and yeah, about 7 years ago.
They are booming now, and everybody in NWLA seems to be eating it and talking about it.

Someone tried to spring the argument that Popeye's has spicy and mild chicken on me. The beauty of Southern Classic is in the simple delicious fried chicken, and have a bite off that pepper if you want more spice.

For at least 15 years the trip to the camp has involved a stop at the location in Farmerville on Friday night on the way through. 15 piece mixed, family okra, family cajun rice, and a dozen chicken livers.
Lafayette baws think Fat Albert's, but the chickens just got a little more oomph (juice & seasoning).

I'll put it it this way for you. Canes is a bunch of preppy white college kids cooking chicken.
Southern Classic is older black ladies cooking chicken. You decide.

I've eaten at the one in Ruston, it's good but takes for freaking ever for Shaniqua to get your order fixed.

GOAT of all fried chicken GOATS. Started life as Chick-a-Dilly in small towns. Homer, Haynesville, Arcadia, Magnolia, Ark. Continues as Southern Classic. Truly sublime.
