It tastes like root beer with cough syrup added. It's pretty terrible.

To each their own, but don't try and tell me something is good, when i've had it and can tell you for certain, it is pretty bad.
Also, why not just drink root beer? As many said, it would be pretty painful to try and get drunk off of this stuff because of how much sugar it has, so what is the point? To me, the alcohol in it, is a turn off.

I can get through about half a bottle of it before the sweetness overwhelms. It's a good concept, but I think it could be less sweet and it would be much better.

Is this just alcoholic root beer? I've seen it at Rouses but didn't pay much attention b/c I don't like root beer

Yes.

It was heavily stocked for a while, then inexplicably the supply went away. I (as well as others apparently) have been told some BS about them not being able to manufacture enough to keep up. But the pics I've posted says a different story. Either they were intentionally cutting supply (at least in south LA), or they let the rest of the bottled supply run out while ramping up production of the canned version.

Not as much as in MS, but obviously they are still making it abundantly. I still say the distributors in LA are trying to limit supply to keep demand high, although I can't figure out why they think that would be a good idea.

I feel like there is a misunderstanding on how distributors work around here. The distributors want to get a product out there and increase their tap and volume share. So them holding back is really far fetched. That being said, I've been in some of their warehouses and they simply do not have it. Small Town Brewery is about the size of Mudbug. This brand has taken off recently and I doubt they predicted that.

Just because one distributor gets it doesn't mean another will have it. I currently carry Zeigenboch at my on premise and have done so for about two years. I was just in Mockler a couple weeks ago getting their sell on that brand because they never had it. They were very suprised to hear I had it down in Houma. The reason being is Mockler just never ordered it and didn't have it in their warehouse. That's why you found it in Oxford and not in Metairie. I think it is Crescent Crown that carries it in NOLA and they do not service the Oxford area, at least not this particular branch. NOLA received NYFR on draft on the first and I am still waiting to get it down here in Houma. That's how long it can take for one Crescent Crown branch to get it to another.

Obviously there is product. There is no logical explanation for it to just disappear from every store.

I've now found it in copious amounts in Metairie too. Bottom line is the guy that I talked to last Friday was either completely uninformed and made something up, or was straight up lied to.

ETA: I know you're in the business and have better understanding than I do, but something just doesn't add up with what I was told and how I'm seeing product now. I think the switch to cans has something to do with it.

There is product but it wasn't making its way down here. The cans are just arriving with bottles about two weeks out. A small brewery can only produce so much. This brand has become a monster in the past couple months. I sell out of it almost as soon as I get it.

How's that Not Your Father's Kool-Aid taste?

How many people have to tell you that this is total and complete bullshite?

What don't you get?

I've had it and i think it's pretty terrible. You want to drink it go ahead. Taste is subjective to the individual. Maybe I should have spelled that out better.

You said you can tell me for certain it's bad. You said that right after saying to each their own.

You can't say to each their own and follow it up with saying something is certainly bad, which implies it is universally bad.

Decent cold. I had one for lunch yesterday, but not great warm for sure.

I doubt I ever have another.

Actually it is exactly what we are talking about. I was clarifying my statement.
