They got started up here in DC and won more than a few local awards, and deservedly so. The original owners (5 brothers, I believe) did a bang-up job.

The quality has fallen off somewhat since the founders are older now and they are franchising everywhere in sight, but it's still decent. I go to one in Arlington VA every so often since I live here.

Their "cajun fries" are probably just regular fries with Zatarain's - still good but nothing to wow about. And everything (including the burgers) can be a bit greasy at times.

I don't go every week but there are times when one just needs an honest to goodness burger with mushrooms, bacon and A-1 sauce instead of the dried out crap you get at the major chains. Just try it out a couple of times, see if you like it.

dad and 4 sons... how do you mean they have fallen off a bit? you mean the store in virginia or just the franchise overall?

Might be. At any rate, they're all related.

I mean the franchise overall. Don't get me wrong, they still put out a solid product. I can only speak personally for the DC area though, I offer no opinion on stores in other areas.

There was a rumor (I think in the BR business report) that said 5 Guys was coming to Perkins Rowe. But not sure what happened with that...

closest one to BR is probably D'Iberville, MS near Biloxi. pretty good burger and from what i hear the bacon cheese dog is good too. The fries are awesome but they tend to overdo the cajun seasoning so i usually just opt for the regular ones. Bacon cheeseburger "all the way" is money

The seasoning they put on the fries has way, way, WAY too much oregano in it.

had the grim burger on thursday, the one w/the mac and cheese/bacon/fried egg. it was good, but the mac and cheese tasted like it had no cheese on it.

more cheese and it would be freaking dynamite.

the CFS looked outstanding, btw.

not very similar at all, imo.

5 guys is a bigger burger, thicker patty, and has all kinds of toppings. The fries are also thicker, greasier, and WAY saltier when they add their seasoning.

In N Out is a smaller, much more simple old time burger. Fries are much thinner and crispier, no special seasoning shake.

I can attest to that. Had been seeing a bunch of people talk about it on facebook and had never heard of it, so me and the wife tried it out. Thought it was very good, like others said a little greasy but still very tasty. Also the amount of fries they give you is ridiculous.

Yeah that deal is dead, they got two opening soon. Town Center, and on Highland and State.

I like the regular fires wit malt vinegar... Cant beat that.

this is true, a 5 guys burger has two patties, you have to order a small if you just want one patty.

I have been to one here in ATL 3x and won't go back. Burgers were dried out 2 of 3x and the fries were always soggy.

The fries were judges least healthy in the franchise business last I saw, but that wasn't the reason, it just wasn't good and I gave them 3 shots.
